YKK Philippines is a joint venture between the family of Ambassador Jose S. Laurel III and Yoshida Kogyo of Japan. It is engaged in the manufacture of world class quality zippers snd is currentyly supplying the Philippine garment industry its quality slide fastener requirements. History The joint venture agreement was officially signed on March 1977 in Toyama, Japan while the company was established on October 17 of the same year. Its factory was constructed on a six-hectare property along the Phil-Japan Friendship highway in San Bartolome, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. It was inaugurated on October 23, 1978. Commercial operations began on January 1979. YKK Philippines was registered as a Non-pioneer Export Producer of Zippers with the Board of Investments on June 1979.
