Work Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.High-level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in FCF.Significant (five years plus) mine engineering experience in a senior open pit production / supervisory role.Significant (ten years plus) mine planning experience in a large open pit environment.Knowledge of open-pit mining technology and heavy production equipment.Experience in developing the role-specific knowledge of less experienced engineers.Demonstrated success as an effective leader.Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.Ability to interact with people of different inclinations.Computer Skills:
Advanced skills in the use of mine planning software specifically Surpac, Minesched, Whittle, and production databases.Role PurposeProvides leadership, management, and technical direction for, and undertakes mine engineering and Long Term mine planning activities. Provides alternate Supervision of Mine Technical Services as required. Ensures all mine engineering and Long Term mine planning activities comply with and are in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, standards and operating procedures. Develop Long Term plans and mine development strategies to improve and optimise mine productivities and maximise the operations profitability. Establish systems to achieve the above objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Establish systems, procedures and work flows to develop long term plans and schedules to guide mine development and control.Provides backup / alternate Technical Services Management duties as required.Ensures operations staff are engaged in the long term mine planning, optimisation and productivity processes and improvements and are provided with Life of Mine plans including ultimate stage development plans, to allow efficient and effective execution of the plan/s.Manage the overall collection, analysis, and reporting of mine information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements, systems efficiencies, and business improvement initiatives. Recommend systems improvements.Assist with the implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects. Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the FCF Occupational Health & Safety Policy.Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of your team.Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention, and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets.Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the team.
