Operations Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Company-Operated Venture:

Develop and recommend operational solutions to address existing vulnerabilities in the system taking into account the economics and impact of such solutions to total systemIdentify opportunities and recommend changes to improve operational quality results by continuously analyzing, evaluating, and evaluating process re-design, contributing information and opinion to unit design and modification teamsMonitor and evaluate operating performance, targets, modes of operation and unit limitations and identify potential vulnerabilities in the systemIdentify order of priority among operational objectives such as: efficiency, cost savings, energy conservation, operator convenience, safety, environmental quality; estimating relevance, time and costs

Non-Operated Joint Venture 

Review operations data provided by Operator and assess potential and existing operation vulnerabilities and the magnitude of impactReview and evaluate work programs and development activities proposed by the Operator and assess Operator’s performance through monitoring, analyzing and evaluating the progress of such activities as against timelines and budget targets Participate in joint venture assurance reviews in various phases of petroleum development projectsParticipate in joint venture technical committee meetings in evaluating the Operator’s proposed short-medium term work programs and assess the Operator’s progress for current work programs Conduct site inspections on offshore/onshore production and processing facilities, supply bases, customer facilities, oil tankers, supply vessels, specialized vessels and other related areas/facilities within the supply chainMonitor, analyze and evaluate technical performance of subsea and surface production operations and facilities and identify potential gaps with the Company’s standardsMonitor and analyze gas offtakes of customers and production performance as inputs to the preparation of production forecastsIdentify and evaluate potential improvements in the production system using Company’s modelling or simulation softwareIdentify and evaluate industry developments and related activities that may impact production operationsReview and analyze Operator’s progress reports and evaluate compliance to the approved work program and budgetReview and evaluate the operator’s requests for contract award, authorization for expenditures, additional budget and other requests related to the operations aspect requiring joint venture approval and recommend appropriate action to immediate supervisorEstablish and maintain communication lines with joint venture counterparts to ensure continuous flow of required information

Risk Management

 Identify potential problems and propose appropriate mitigating measures through continuous monitoring and thorough evaluation of system processesIdentify risks of proposed activities or projects that may affect overall petroleum production operation projectsMaintain an operations database including lessons learned, operations data and engineering data, trends across all of Company’s producing assets to ensure that these information are shared to all operating units

Business Transactions

Draft and evaluate Operator’s requests for contract award, authorization for expenditures, additional budget and other requests requiring joint venture approval related to the operations aspect and recommend appropriate action to immediate superior.Provide the needed inputs in the development of the Annual Work Program and Budget for the sectionReview and analyze proposed annual work program and budget

Cross-Functional Performance

 Provide technical expertise to other internal units requiring technical support in petroleum production operationsDevelop training program/materials on petroleum operations for employee orientation programs and student trainees under the Company’s OJT programSupport HSSE Department in conducting risk assessment by providing inputs in a relevant field of expertiseProvide technical expertise in support of Information and Education Campaigns for other projects

Reporting

Prepare status reports and technical recommendations to immediate supervisorEnsure submission of reports and other information to the immediate supervisor for other internal or external groups as required

Continuous Improvement

Keep abreast of industry-related developments, best practices, new and emerging technologies, and recommend possible adaptations applicable for the unit and the CompanyDevelop and recommend updates and revisions of existing policy/procedures appropriate for the unit and the CompanyUpgrade technical competency through review of periodicals, participation of in-house training programs, secondment, scholarships, seminars, workshops, conferences and specialized training sessions
