Project Associate (GIS)

COMPETENCIES, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a graduate of BS in Environmental Science, BS in Environmental Planning, BS in Forestry, BS in Geology, BS in Geography, or other similar coursesMust have experience in using ArcGIS to produce digital maps with geographic data and convert physical maps into digital mapsHas experience in technical writingGood verbal and written communication skillsGood interpersonal skillsWilling to conduct fieldwork and to facilitate events such as but not limited to IEC campaigns, public consultations, and planning workshopsMust have stable internet connection and if possible has own laptop (in good condition)Experience in using AutoCAD is a plus, but not required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The PROJECT ASSOCIATE shall directly report to the company’s Project Officer and the Chief Operating Officer. The PROJECT ASSOCIATE shall:

Convert physical maps into a digital form for computer usage;Analyze spatial data through the use of ArcGIS and detect spatial patterns and trends;Produce digital maps with geographic data and other data sources in order to show spatial distribution of various kinds of data;Create shapefiles to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map;Perform data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form;Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations;Manage a digital library of geographic maps in various file types;Provide guidance to client/s and other stakeholders on mapping issuesCoordinate with relevant agencies for to obtain and validate data, as necessary;Support site visits to accomplish the following: (a) data collection and validation; (b) review of existing relevant plans and studies; and (c) review, check, and document progress of project implementation;Facilitate, arrange, and participate in consultations, meetings, and workshops, as required;Provide advisory and technical inputs in the preparation and conduct of information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns, public consultations, workshops, and other events as needed;Assist in the preparation of reports, powerpoint presentations, progress reports, briefing notes, and other outputs as needed;Liaise and represent the company in meetings, seminars, and fora as deemed necessary;Perform other related duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Project Officer, Chief Operating Officer, or any authorized officer of Envia Consultancy, Inc.
