We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of President, HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage.

This is a senior role reporting to the Head of WPB Philippines role and is a critical role for executing the strategy of WPB Philippines, as we grow our onshore Wealth Management business in the country. The role leads the HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage, the entity that fulfils the Investment and Insurance needs of clients in the Philippines, with end to end responsibility and accountability for performance and effective running of daily operations.

The Head of HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage role is fundamental to:

Deliver strategic growth ambitions and FRP. Leadership and sales management, ensuring alignment to deliver overall WPB strategyLead the expansion of the HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage entity – embedding new operating structure, new people, products, stakeholders etc.Managing day to day operations and maintaining end to end business oversight. Managing performance – maximizing sales volumes and revenuesAccountability and oversight of all operational and regulatory risks. Direct interaction with HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage Board and regulatorsDetermine actions necessary to improve business performance and co-ordinate the implementation of these actions.Manage internal control structures and ensure adherence to group, legal and regulatory requirements across all areas in market.Lead continued development, implementation and improvement of processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver agreed plans and targets, collaborating with colleagues to maximize end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.Lead development, enhancement and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting frameworks that support timely and effective business management and decision making.

In this role, the principal accountabilities are the following:

Impact on the Business

Support and deliver the WPB and MNL Market wealth customer growth strategy with P&L delivery responsibility for the HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage entity, meeting product sales volumes and revenues across all HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage lines, whilst managing cost baseProactively identify and capture growth opportunities as they arise to grow profitability, working closely with Wealth & International product and proposition teamEnsure the alignment of all key stakeholders in HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage to the growth strategy via clear communication, being a positive role model and clearly agreeing roles and responsibilitiesManaging organizational structure and culture for HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage. Deliver expected contribution to overall WPB strategy via product volume and revenue targets Inspire teams and provide clear sales direction to the Sales Teams and Individual frontline teams to achieve all business goalsLead projects and initiatives that remove blockers and enhance sales numbers and experiences for people and clients, in alignment with the Wealth & International Value StreamMaximize everyday productivity via embedding technology project enhancements, processes, training, coaching and everyday performance managementWork closely with relevant teams (Wealth & International, Distribution, Digital, Marketing etc.) to ensure customer offering and Distribution model is optimal for scalable growth and efficient cost to acquire & serve

Stakeholders

Close interaction and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders from across the business locally, regionally and globallyLead and manage the HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage Board of Directors, comprised of both internal Directors and Independent Directors.Close and direct interaction with customers including seeking feedback, handling queries and complaints

Internal Stakeholders

Be able to work with local and regional stakeholders to deliver expected growth targetsCommunicate, influence and inspire stakeholders to support deliver of strategy at all levels of the organizationMain stakeholders engaged will be Wealth & International Team, Network Heads, MSS, DBS, Regional/Group Wealth teams

External Stakeholders

Interact with and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, Insurance Providers, Fund Providers, Market participants, regulators

Leadership & Teamwork

Lead, direct and inspire a large group of people to achieve clearly articulated business strategyPrioritize competing demands, to ensure delivery of key strategic goalsEnsure staff understand the role they play in delivering strategy and lead them to deliver their personal accountabilitiesManage frontline teams and back office teams effectively, ensuring synergy across the whole entityTackle performance management issues should they arise, fostering a culture of growth, client centricity and drive to improve the businessCollaborate across all MNL WPB to ensure holistic approach to client relationships, servicing needs across bank and brokerage

Operational Effectiveness & Control

Entity Obligations (Board, governance, controls)

Be the primary contact point and representative to the HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage Board. Responsibilities will be end to end reporting of the brokerage – including but not limited to performance vs plan, strategic objectives, progress of key initiatives, progress on people agenda, update on the management of key risks and governance issuesEnsure appropriate governance for effective oversight of the brokerage, attending as a core member with decision rightsContribute where appropriate to non-HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage governance (e.g. HBAP, regional governance etc.)Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulators on critical items to evidence effective running of HSBC Investment & Insurance BrokerageDirectly interface regulators and manage regulatory risk effectively

Regulatory Obligations

Directly interface with Regulators and maintain clear lines of communicationOwnership and accountability of risks and controls with regulatory impact and rulesTimely and accurate reporting (financial and non-financial)Work closely with risk counterparties (e.g. compliance, COO etc. to ensure smooth and effective risk management in HSBC Investment & Insurance Brokerage)

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Minimum of ten years proven and progressive experience, including a minimum of four years proven senior management experience or equivalent. Strong managerial, planning, analytical, communications, decision-making, lateral thinking, influencing, interpersonal and project management skills. Experience of leading a team to achieve strategic goals, in a customer facing / distribution environment. People and performance management experienceThorough understanding of customer segmentation and management techniques, as well as the businesses and products supported and the regulations impacting themProven track record of communicating effectively within the organization and with customer groups.  Extensive experience delivering change management programs and driving cost efficienciesAbility to work in a team-oriented environment and effectively influence and communicate across various business lines at senior levels within the organization. Knowledge of the organization and its products, processes and pertinent regulations affecting their delivery
