Fresh Category Buyer (Supermarket)

Job Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or any other related course/programMust be willing to work in Gapan, Nueva EcijaWith at least 2-3 years of experience as a Buyer in a supermarketWilling to travel in-store branches when necessary

Job Responsibilities:

A. Product & Supplier Sourcing:

1. Develops supplier relations and negotiates with them regarding payment terms, discounts, price markdown, rebates, returns or replacements, and promotions for review by Merchandising Head or Manager.

2. Handles direct local buying of supermarket products.

3. Conducts product and supplier sourcing for better merchandise assortment.

4. Receives and determines sales points of new items from suppliers in terms of price and quality.

B. Quality and Freshness:

1. Performs quality checking on the freshness of food and fresh items/products.

2. Ensures that the origins of the food and fresh products are accounted for and are free from environmental contamination to guarantee the health and safety of store customers.

3. Ensures that all products are correctly accounted for and protected from quality deterioration during delivery to the store.

C. Delivery and Inventory Monitoring:

1. Supervises the loading and delivery of the purchased products to ensure accuracy in    

quantity and quality.

2. Ensures that products are delivered in the store on agreed schedules.

3. Coordinate with store supervisors to get inventory data on stocks and deliveries.

4. Coordinates with Goods Receiving personnel to ensure accurate receiving of ordered merchandise items.

5. Conducts follow-up to monitor the status of late deliveries and undelivered items to suppliers.

6. Participates in inventory activities as directed by superiors.

D. Master Data, Pricing, and Promotions:

1. Takes the lead in coordinating with relevant units within the team to ensure upload 

of product information, description and costs.

2. Coordinate with Accounting in terms of merchandise order discrepancy, charges, and deductions to supplier’s accounts, late payment, and other accounting-related matters.

E. Others:

1. Submit various reports as directed and required by the Merchandising Manager/Head accurately and promptly.

2. Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of divisional goal attainment or for personal or professional training, education and development as planned by the superior.
