We are looking for a Junior BOOKKEEPER/ACCOUNTANT - to join our growing and successful Australian accounting team.

The Junior Bookkeeper is responsible for undertaking all bookkeeping activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, BAS preparation and payroll. They will be processing end to end transaction allocation and accounts management.

The Junior Accountant is responsible for undertaking all production accounting activities, including preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and taxation requirements and deliver associated quality, professional accounting outcomes. The ideal candidate has knowledge of taxation, bookkeeping, and admin procedures and will be an asset to the Accounting team. Candidates will be expected to perform bookkeeping duties for a small number of higher end clients, as well as play a role in the tax preparation for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Junior Accountant:

• The position requires you to report to the Senior Production Manager

• Your role is to assist in the processing of financial statements and prepare income tax returns

• You will work with your Senior Accountant and Senior Production Manager, helping train you in technical knowledge and reviewing your work 

Reconciliation of accountsPreparation of BAS, IAS and management reports as requiredPreparation of Financial Statements and Tax Returns to Australian Accounting & Taxation regulationsYou will be required to work in a team and complete work assigned by your Manager.

Junior Bookkeeper:

• Perform bank reconciliation

• Can prepare sales invoices in the client's accounting system

• Enter supplier's tax invoices in the client's accounting system

• Process payments of A/P and collections of A/R

• Can resolve the recurring reconciling items showing in the reconciliation reports like Bank Reconciliation, Trade Payables/Receivables

• Draft activity statements (BAS/IAS) for review

• Payroll (Australian) Experience / Specialisation

• Payroll data entry processing and able to reconcile with relevant records

• Process superannuation obligations and do relevant reconciliations

• Understanding of the flow of accounting transactions up the financial statements level

• Have a good understanding of the ATO portal and its use

• Can liaise with accountants (internal & external)

• Can liaise directly with the Firm's clients when required

Setting up and maintaining cloud apps - Xero, Receipt Bank, Square, Deputy, Lightspeed (Kounta) where necessaryYou will be required to work in a team and complete work assigned by your Manager.

Qualifications - Preferable But Not Compulsory

Xero Certified and Payroll CertifiedMust possess a Bachelor’s Degree in AccountancyAustralian Bookkeeping/Accounting/Tax and general ledger experienceAt least One (1) Year experience in bookkeeping and/or accountingPrevious experience in a BPO (or similar) undertaking bookkeeping for Australian clients is an advantageExcellent English communication skillsKeen attention to detailsMust be willing to work AU shift hours (7am-3pm)Must be willing to work in Eastwood as soon as possible.
