The opportunity
FAAS professionals provide advisory services including accounting and regulatory support for accounting change and special matters; valuation of derivatives; accounting processes and controls support (remediation, long-term contract accounting and cost accounting); GAAP Conversion and
implementation; IPO and other public offering assistance and transaction accounting and financial reporting assistance (purchase price allocation).
The Manager should have extensive experience in FAAS. The person is also expected to display strong technical knowledge in US GAAP and/or IFRS.
The Manager will be responsible for working closely with FAAS leadership, Partners, Senior Managers and Managers on client engagements. The
incumbent will provide technical support, grow the FAAS portfolio and coach the junior members of the team.
Primary responsibilities
• Act as a FAAS subject matter expert for one or more FAAS solutions, including:
o Financial Accounting and Reporting Excellence
o GAAP conversions
o Transaction accounting
o Corporate treasury
o Accounting policy and governance
o Audit remediation and readiness
o Data analytics
o Systems and processes
• Address service delivery quality issues, if and when they occur.
• Conduct and contribute to the FAAS team performance & reviews, serve as a positive leader and mentor, and organizing and providing technical training.
• Identify development opportunities and training needs for high performing Managers.
• Enhance relationships with other teams and leverage connections to identify opportunities for FAAS work.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• Minimum 5 years (post qualification) in assurance, finance controllership roles, or in any of the following fields:
o Financial accounting and reporting
o Valuation of derivatives and other financial instruments
o Hedging and hedge accounting
o Treasury
o Data analytics
o Insurance accounting (IFRS 17 knowledge and experience)
o Transaction accounting
o Internal audit
o Corporate governance and regulations
o Systems and processes
• Knowledge on IFRS or US GAAP and accounting standards
• Extensive hands–on experience in any of the following areas:
o GAAP conversions and implementation of new accounting standards
o Drafting and designing accounting policies
o Technical accounting research and advice
o Consolidation and compilation support
o Financial statement close process support
o Transaction accounting and reporting – IPOs, Carve–outs, PPA, etc.
o Remediation and readiness
o Benchmarking services and market analysis
o Advanced data analytics (knowledge of the subject will be a plus)
• Strong management skills to lead teams, delegate appropriately, mentor, review performance and counsel employees.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client servicing and technical writing skills.
• Ability to research client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies.
• Industry sector specialization and international work experience will be valued.
