Role Purpose
• Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Managers are responsible for developing and implementing organizational safety programs.
• Reviews and update institutional HSSE policies and conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures.
Key Accountabilities
• Assist, support, and monitor the implementation of the HSSE strategy in the organization
• Ensure that the workplace is monitored and is fully in compliance with all applicable OSHA standards, rules, and regulations in order to maintain safety in offices and work sites.
• Use labels, signs, posters, floor marking, and color coding to warn employees about potential hazards.
• Ensure that Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are maintained, and communicated to employees and associates.
• Ensure the results of safety inspections are documented; monitor the investigation of accidents and injuries; ensure that corrective actions are taken; provide recommendations for ways to prevent similar accidents.
• To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
• Ensure that all accident reports are recorded in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
• To bring company-related health and safety matters to the attention of the management at regular intervals.
• Ensure that an adequate program of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
• Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and bring to the attention of the Management, any relevant new legislation.
• Ensure that all “assessments” as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and maintain records of the same.
• Recommend control measures and advise on the standard of P.P.E. issued to employees.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations.
• Carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant forms.
Facilities Admin Tasks
• Creates a suitable environment and is responsible for the daily management of all facilities of the company including health and safety
• Uses best practices to manage and reduce operational costs
• Creates a budget for various needs and expenses vis a vis compares costs for said requirements various services and goods before recommending best options
• Manage the maintenance of the various health & safety measures by performing regular checks, or contracting maintenance services as needed.
• Handles certain administrative tasks such as preparing reports not limited to HSSE-related matters
• Responds to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving any of the facilities
• Assist Business Operations and Human Resources in the implementation of its functions
Administrative Tasks
• Administer and or requests for pertinent procurement of goods and services required for the team or the department;
• Assist in facilitating necessary permits/licenses from government(s) agencies relating to HSSE and related matters
• Establish administrative and human resources procedures, and follow principles of good governance while ensuring speedy delivery of services in the context of an emergency operations organization;
• Ensure adherence to the organization’s administrative rules and procedures;
• Communicate with other departments/units to adhere to all necessary aspects of health and safety awareness, preventive, and protocols in health and safety in particular protocols in COVID-19 management, prevention, and control.
• Ensure the organization’s preventive, safety and security measures are implemented.
Other Tasks
• Perform other related duties as required, and assigned by the Deputy COO and/or the Business Operations Head
• To participate in projects and working parties, or to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard department, that will benefit the individual, the division, or the Company as a whole.
• Gather relevant market, competitor, and customer information in order to support personal development.
