The primary objective of the Mechanical Designer is to formulate and execute BIM and produce designs, 3D models/plans, simulations, analysis, and documentation for Mechanical Building Services.
The ROLES AND RESPonSIBILITIES of the Mechanical Designer include, but not limited to the following:
1. Work on designs for mechanical systems, such as HVAC, Plumbing, FPS and other building services for various sectors such as Hospitals, Office Buildings, Manufacturing plants, etc.
2. Produce coordinated 3D BIM models and simulations of BIM models based off existing detailed design 2D CAD/markup drawings and files produced by detailed design consultants.
3. Setup of BIM views for use by the project team including electronic document filing and all other facets of the electronic drawings and models.
4. Create BIM work sets and implement work sharing processes.
5. Perform clash detection in Autodesk Navisworks or similar software.
6. Use the Revit family editor to build BIM content for building components, as necessary.
7. Work with various disciplines and external parties to create BIM and subsequent drawings based off schematic diagrams and models.
8. Assist both internal and external team members in the development of construction documents and as-built document creation and maintenance.
9. Work with various parties to update as-built model and 2D sheet files through construction with changes on-site or as instructed.
10. Work side by side with teams in-house and external teams to complete BIM projects.
11. Assist in the creation, maintenance, and proper utilization of company/project standards, templates, and content.
12. Monitor and check for model quality and integrity.
13. Provide feedback to Consultant Designers and Engineers.
14. Produce models and drawings consistent with Project instructions, guidelines and CAD and BIM standards.
15. Modify CAD and BIM files for use in design drawings (clean-up, audit, reference, and troubleshoot).
16. Perform other roles, duties and responsibilities directed by immediate superior that support the organization’s Mission, Vision, Objectives, Strategies and Core Values.
PROFESSIonAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SKILLS
1. Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. Registered Mechanical Engineer
3. Minimum of three (3) years work-related technical experience
4. Excellent working knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP.
5. Oral and Written Communication Skills
6. A robust knowledge of Building Services Engineering design and excellent knowledge and experience with services coordination.
7. Experience on Mechanical HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting and preparation of MEP drawings.
