As a Staff Engineer in the Metrology section of Spacing Control and Integration group under Design of Experiment (DOE) department, you will spearhead a team comprising of technicians to operate and maintain two (2) Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM) and two (2) 3D Optical Profilometer. In line with the said primary goal, you will plan, execute standard tests, or develop new methodologies and experiments to evaluate the performance of new designs. You will be responsible in identifying appropriate tests from the current test suites or experiments, or develop one, as needed, analyze data using statistical tools and generate a report. You will work closely with technical teams and designers across the company to properly characterize and improve designs. You should be an independent problem solver with excellent written and oral communication skills. You are expected to develop and drive solutions on testing/ tester-related problems. You will be in-charge of the automation of data processing, data analytics and creation of dashboards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Plan and execute tests or experiments to evaluate the performance of new designs using Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and 3D Optical Profilometer. · Apply statistical methods to analyze experimental data. · Generate comprehensive report for each evaluation or experiment. · Develop codes that will automate the processing and generation of metrology reports. · Input recommendations to improve new designs. · Spearhead projects or tests such that they’re completed on the committed date. · Ensure testers are in control daily, which includes the identification and resolution of issues. · Develop techniques or test methodologies to appropriately characterize or analyze evolving/ unique designs. · Troubleshoot issues caused by the system and its limitations. · Collaborate with counterparts worldwide in planning and executing spacing characterization.· Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsREQUIRED:· Master’s degree in Applied Physics or Physics or Materials Science and Engineering or related field with minimum 3 years of recent experience in metrology specifically, atomic force microscope (AFM) or 3 years of experience in data processing automation or dashboard creation. Or,· Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics or Physics or Materials Science and Engineering or related field with minimum 5 years of recent experience in metrology specifically, atomic force microscope (AFM) or 5 years of experience in data processing automation or dashboard creation. Or, · Master’s degree in related field with proficient understanding of Physics or Materials Science fundamentals and with minimum 3 years of recent experience in data processing automation or dashboard creation. · Proficient in any programming language, preferably, Python and R. · Understanding of the fundamentals of electronics, physics, materials, and magnetic theory. · Intermediate skills in the use of statistical tools e.g. JMP, Minitab, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. · Strong problem solving, technical writing and oral communication skills.PREFERRED:· Direct experience in the use of atomic force microscope and other metrology tools in HDD/ magnetic head test engineering. · Direct experience in data processing automation, data analytics and dashboard creation. · Proficient in any programming language, preferably, Python and R. · Immense experience in science or experimental laboratories.SKILLS:· Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of electronics, physics, materials, and magnetic theory. · Intermediate skills in the use of statistical tools e.g. JMP, Minitab, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. · Strong programming skills. · Strong problem solving, technical writing and oral communication skills. · Self-motivated with the ability to effectively multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment. · Demonstrated ability to multi-task and deliver consistently with minimal supervision.
