GENERAL JOB DEscriptION:

Administer stress tests and electrocardiograms – or EKGs – to patients suspected of having heart murmurs, blockages and other cardiovascular complications. Monitor patients' vital signs, prepare them for open-heart surgery, and administer medications. They report their patients' statuses to doctors and surgeons and communicate with their families and friends. Cardiac nurses are also educators who reach out to their communities to teach people to preserve their cardiovascular health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Use biopsies, stress tests, monitors and echocardiograms to diagnose heart and coronary artery conditions, abnormal heart rhythms and congenital heart defects they treat with medications, diet control and procedures that unblock arteries or regulate heartbeats.

· Operate on patients referred to them by cardiologists, performing complex bypasses and heart transplants and repairing heart valves, defects, and aneurysms. They must stay current with technological advances in surgical instrumentation and procedures to remain at the top of their field.

· Perform postoperative care on a surgical unit, stress test evaluations, cardiac monitoring, vascular monitoring, and health assessments.

· Managing hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and other heart conditions

· evaluating and monitoring heart devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators

· Performing a wide variety of cardiac tests, including stress tests, stress echocardiograms, exercise stress tests, PET/dipyridamole stress tests, and CT coronary angiograms

· Providing physical exams to diagnose chronic and acute cardiac diseases

· Interpreting laboratory results or cardiac tests

· Prescribing and managing cardiac medications and other therapies

· Educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS STANDARD

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing

· Registered or with Philippine Professional Regulations Commission

· With at least One (1) year relevant work experience at the Heart Station, assisting in different procedures.

· Cardiac nurses must have Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or with training on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Technique

· With training on Basic Electrocardiography (EKG)

· With training on Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

· Trained and Certified on Cardiovascular Modalities and Procedures (2decho)

· Must be organized and able to function independently

· Must possess strong human relation and communication skills

·  Ability to accurately document patient information.
