The opportunity

We are seeking a Consultant to join EY’s – Quantitative Services (“QS”) Global Delivery Services (“GDS”) team based in Manila. The GDS-QS team is a diverse team of highly professionals focused on supporting companies to access Government funding.

As a GDS-QS team member, you will work closely with EY colleagues in Australia to support companies to access Government Incentives for financial support to undertake projects that align to Australian government priorities. With well over $1 billion of government grants and incentives available every year across Australia, the Government Incentives landscape is diverse and dynamic. EY’s Government Incentives team plays a critical role in supporting its clients meet their growth objectives by identifying and securing access to various government funding options. 

Drawing on your technical knowledge gained from your education, and potentially in industry, you will primarily advise and support our clients to prepare applications to access a wide range of funding programs for projects, including across innovation, manufacturing, and sustainability, to name a few. You will play an active role in developing funding applications and take part in client communication and analysis of their projects. You will be working with a variety of clients ranging from trailblazing start-ups to some of the largest global corporations. 

This role will require you to work in close collaboration with our national team in a fast-paced environment. It will also require you to have strong technical knowledge, technical report writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and project management skills.

The Australian Government Incentives team consists of engineers, economists, scientists, lawyers, and accountants who have a genuine interest and passion for innovation, the economy, and business growth.

As well as working with the Australian team, you will also be part of an exciting and diverse group of Manila-based EY professionals. The GDS-QS team in Manila is recently established and expected to grow rapidly. This is an ideal opportunity for proactive leaders interested in fast tracking their career journey. 

Your key responsibilities

• Work with your team to scope complex and confidential projects, develop incentive strategies, and identify government funding opportunities

• Work with your team to develop funding submissions under various Federal and State funding programs which may include business cases, project plans, budgets, economic analysis 

• Leverage and expand your skillsets to support stakeholder engagement and management, persuasive and technical writing, and financial/economic analysis

• Monitor government policy changes and announcements to deliver insight on Australia’s funding and investment landscape  

• Assist with go-to-market pursuits through development of proposals and marketing collateral 

• Contribute to overall team culture to ensure ongoing support and growth of EY’s market-leading Government Incentives service offering

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have

• University Degree (undergraduate and/or postgraduate) qualifications which may include:

o Economics

o Business

o Law

o Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine (STEMM)  

o Journalism

• The ability to comprehend and articulate complex information succinctly

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills

• Genuine interest in business investments, innovation, and economic drivers affecting growth and development

• Attend client-facing discussions with client subject matter experts, such as, project managers, software development teams and engineers, to discuss the technological and commercial aspects of their projects.

• Proven ability to build relationships 

• Commitment to excellent service to clients and building a better working world

Ideally, you’ll also have

• An interest in project development, economic evaluation, and commercial decision-making

• Report and grant writing/business case development experience

• Experience working in government departments, especially governmental advisory roles
