Description

The Information Product Specialist will serve the Firm's Knowledge function and support the delivery of the Information Product Management strategy and best practice to the practice and industry groups. The role holder will work as part of the Knowledge Specialist team, providing direction for information subscriptions work, and delivering information on product projects and initiatives as directed by the Information Product Management Lead. The role holder is to be an expert in Information Product Management and best practice in line with the Firm and Knowledge strategy.

Responsibilities: 

Support the effective procurement and management of the key strategic legal and business Information and Research (I&R) products and subscriptions, in alignment with the global and regional I&R strategies and the global Procurement strategy and guidelinesAdvise on the further development and implementation of global I&R procurement and supplier/contract management guidelines

Service orientationWork together with the Information Product Management Lead to:

Build and nurture strong, strategic relationships with Knowledge Partners, Procurement, Finance, Technology, and Operations teams, the Director of Knowledge for Markets & Research, Regional I&R Leads and teams, the Senior Manager for Research and Information alerts, and with external suppliers for regional and global information resources and products, focusing on the key strategic suppliersSupport Information Product Management Lead, Regional I&R Leads, and teams managing, negotiating, and reviewing key strategic supplier contracts per Global Procurement policies and guidelines and budget parameters, and achieving global, regional, and assisting with local office savings targetsCultivate responsive, positive, and productive relationships, delivering value through effective communication with stakeholders and key relationships, and promote the Knowledge brand and services, and Information Product Management policies and guidelines globally and regionallyContribute substantively to the provision of Information Product Management support by managing and supporting information products and tools and complex requests, and by working on Knowledge projects and initiatives as required Proactively seek ways to improve Information Product solutions and processes, optimizing automation, innovation, and efficiency, taking ownership of deliveryPromote and identify ways to strengthen the Knowledge culture. Build and develop strong and productive relationships throughout the Firm through collaboration, mutual respect, and a reputation for competence. Advocate and be a positive spokesperson for Knowledge. Support diversity and inclusion, CSR, and pro bono activities Develop a comprehensive understanding of and drive adoption of Knowledge systems, services, and other LegalTech and toolsBe known in the Firm as the expert and go-to person for the resolution of issues relating to Information Product Management

Knowledge, expertise, and operational effectiveness

Understand, articulate, and promote the suite of I&R resources and products offered by the Firm (globally, regionally, and locally), promoting their role, features, and functionality to other Knowledge professionals, business professionals across other Functions, and lawyersSupport management of the procurement of key strategic resources and development of best practice standards for the procurement of local products and resources, in alignment with Procurement, Product Management, and Collection Development policies and consultation with the Regional I&R LeadsManage relationships with the key strategic suppliers at a global and regional levelSupport the delivery of information resources and product training plans, including tailoring training to educate specific groups and meet specific needsWork with Information Product Management Lead and closely with other stakeholders in managing and enhancing the Global Information Resources Inventory (GIRI)Support the enhancement of global and regional guidelines for new product requests, including business cases, trials and product assessments and feedback, and cancellations and rationalizationsProvide significant input into, review and analyze global, regional, and local I&R subscription budgets, including data review and management reporting, and  support the Global Director of Knowledge and Director of Knowledge Operations with the global Knowledge budget, to achieve the best outcomes between budget parameters and appropriate product mixSupport in-market teams with IPM best practices, policies, and standards

Experience Required:

Relevant undergraduate degreeSignificant experience with library and information and research products in a professional services environment; familiarity with library management systems desirable, including knowledge of library technical services operations and processesAbility to manage multiple stakeholders, build strong relationships virtually, communicate effectively, be comfortable working in a large, complex environment, highly credible and persuasiveDemonstrated ability to drive results and a sense of urgency in executing against stated objectivesProven ability to interact and consult with peers and other team members, strong collaboration skills, and effective stakeholder managementStrong communication skills, and credible presentation skillsGood comprehension and understanding of a diverse set of knowledge and information resources
