Leads and controls merchandising operations within area of responsibility through effective supervision and skillful conduct of transaction with suppliers.
1. Ensures that department sales quota is achieved through proper selection of merchandise, timely and creative display, updated and complete familiarity with merchandise, etc.
2. Controls and monitors stock levels and deliveries to ensure adherence to stock plan.
3. Analyzes and interprets reports for use in decision-making aimed at achieving sales and profit.
4. Negotiates for favorable terms, discounts, rebates on merchandise purchased, merchandise style adjustments (if necessary), etc. with vendors/suppliers.
5. Ensures that merchandise processed are saleable by continually evaluating market trends/fashion, price, method of display, etc.
6. Updates self on market trends and merchandise information through market trips to branches, competitive stores, reading merchandising and fashion journals/coordination with selling personnel, Merchandising or other resources.
7. Updates other concerned personnel on market trends and merchandise information.
8. Participates in all shortage control audits when deemed necessary and takes proper action.
