Authorities & Responsibilities:
● Interpret the production schedule, calculate the amount of ink required per job and supply each press with the appropriate inks for each job
● Formulate color matches for customer approval (proofs)
● General daily maintenance of process consumables and machine
● Create ink room color standards
● Return, store, and use press returned inks
● Follow appropriate quality control and inspection process for inks to ensure quality to presses
● Mix adhesives and coatings
● Ability to perform proper facility start-up and shut-down processes
● Formulate inks to match customer provided standards
● Examines printed product for ink density, position on paper, and registration and makes adjustments throughout production
● Occasionally communicate with customers regarding their artwork, design and color feasibility
● Review suitability of press returns ink for recycle
● Review raw materials and suitability of finished matches on press
● Monitor color to achieve color consistency
● Clean and use 6S to organize ink room and dispensing system
● Manages and maintains ink inventory to generally acceptable levels
● Follow all company policies and safety procedures
● Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time
Job Specification:
● Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent
● At least 3 years’ experience in ink color matching, pressroom and work-off formulation with solvent and water inks
● Experience with press-side ink and color troubleshooting
● Ability to accurately see color is required
● Ability to detect and solve problems that may affect the quality of the product, product aesthetics, or product contamination
● Ability to perform duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
● Possesses the ingenuity to plan, layout and perform all tasks necessary to return equipment to working condition
● Proficient mathematical skills and knowledge of metric conversion
● Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
● Must have strong communications skills and a working knowledge of MS Excel.
● Be willing to work overtime as needed
