RTI International is currently accepting applications for Program Officer for the USAID- funded Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines: ABC+ project. This activity will work with the Government of the Philippines to support improved literacy in mother-tongue, numeracy, and social and emotional learning (SEL) in grades K-3. The activity will target Regions V (Bicol) and VI (Western Visayas) and BARMM. The position will be based in Iloilo City.
The Program Officer is intended to support the regional teams in two main areas: communications support and general coordination work. The Program Officer will be supporting the team in a wide variety of tasks, including work planning and scheduling, preparation of reports and general communications, coordination with partners, development of communications materials and products, events preparation and management, coordination and support for meetings within the region, and as needed, providing technical input.
The program officer reports directly to the Regional Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Regional Manager, the main responsibilities include the following:
· With technical guidance of the Communications team, develop communications materials and products in collaboration with regional team’s technical officers
· In collaboration with the MELO and other members of the team, assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for sharing with DepEd
· Support the team in organizing internal and external meetings and coordinate with responsible team members for the follow through on agreements from said meetings
· Maintain the regional calendar of activities and assist in tracking of progress of agreements and accomplishments
· Support in the documentation and preparation of materials for events, meetings, and presentations
· Support the team in liaising with partners and other education-focused programs
· Assist in monitoring and reporting monthly project updates
· Update and keep track of the meetings, highlights and agreements with DepEd management teams at the region and division level
· Provide surge capacity support to technical units when needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field and 5 years of experience in communications and project coordination or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
· Experience in development projects an advantage.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
· Must be professionally proficient in written and spoken English. Working knowledge of languages in Regions V, VI and BARMM, an advantage.
