Purpose of the position
The role will provide support for the successful technical delivery of the water and wastewater projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical to support projects in SMECs Water Infrastructure business.Respo
nsible for developing design tasks in support to water and wastewater projects.Support the Water group in all phases of design planning and execution on medium to large size water and wastewater engineering projects of varying complexity.Support master planning, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender docu
mentation.Assist in preparation and managing the delivery of project studies and report preparation assignments.Prepare design calculations.Assist the Water Team Lead manage in the design process.Plan, organize, coordinate and co
ntrol the design and engineering of the project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.Work with Water Team Lead to deliver designs on schedule.Formulate and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.Has strong co
nnection to relevant industry organizations, and actively participates in industry events aligned with SMECs’ strategies for the water sector.
Key Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; preferably licensed Civil Engineer.At least 5 years’ proven experience as a technical professio
nal on water related projects.A complete understanding of water and wastewater design and a good knowledge of other key disciplines such as mechanical and process engineering aspects of the industry.Knowledgeable of relevant Internatio
nal and Natio
nal standards and guidelines.Ability to carry out design processes associated with the water industry such Hydraulic Modelling, pipeline sizing, pump station sizing and ability to undertake civil engineering design of the different components.Good forward planning for Design Reviews.Ability to deliver high quality outputs under tight time f
rames.Self-motivated, with capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to think analytically and logically.Excellent communication and interperso
nal skills.Excellent report writing capabilities.Good understanding of processes associated with Water and Wastewater Treatment.Good understanding of pipeline design for both water and wastewater projects.
