We are recruiting for a Senior Business Information & Design engineer (BI developer) who will be part of the global Data & Integration team. In this role, you would build valuable data products for internal and external users, including (but not limited to) KPI reports and Business Intelligence dashboards.
You would work with common (enterprise level) solutions; and contribute to best practices for data visualization and business information design. You would strengthen our internal capability in this important area, primarily through educating and supporting analysts all across our organisation so that they can generate the relevant insight for their business area through managed self-service. You would be hands on in delivery as part of an empowered, multidisciplinary agile squad.

What will you do in this role?
You will be accountable for delivering tangible data products that fulfil the customers need.
• Technical Delivery: You will work hands-on in defining, designing, engineering, testing and launching enterprise data products e.g. reusable datasets, data visualizations and dashboards, KPI reports and forecasting applications.
• Managed Self-service: You will work with insight users in any part of the organisation, educating and guiding their efforts; refactoring and automating where necessary to make solutions supportable and reusable
• Technical Leadership: You will work with your team and other practitioners to define & and adopt best practices for Information Design and Visualisation. This means document and sharing skills, methods, tools, patterns and architectures. It also means continual professional development required to level up and continually adapt and improve. As a senior professional, you would be expected to support and mentor less experienced colleagues.
• Communications and relationship building: The role requires you to actively collaborate with a wide range of people across the organisation. You will need to communicate proactively and transparently and ensure that timely and reliable information reaches everyone contributing to or impacted by the team’s efforts.
What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
You will be ideal for this role if you have 2 years or more professional experience with Business Intelligence and User Experience design in a large global organisation. You should be able to demonstrate both successful delivery and lessons learnt, problem solving and fact-based decision making. Ideally you can show us a representative portfolio of your best work.
You will make a strong candidate if you have demonstrable knowledge and skills in current data methodologies, frameworks and best practices, and interest & passion for designing data products.
In addition, experience, knowledge or expertise in the following would give you an advantage:
• Hands-on experience of implementing enterprise level MS PowerBI solutions
• Experience of advanced data modelling techniques, including knowledge graphs and event data, as well as the fundamental Dimensional and Relational models.
• Software engineering discipline e.g. with continuous integration /continuous deployement
• Understanding of business processes and quality & productivity improvement methodologies and how data is used in process control
• Understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning and how this can be made accessible to users through data products.
