Job Description
Chemonics seeks a Gender Specialist for the USAID Strengthening Private Enterprise for the Digital Economy (SPEED) activity. This project will seek to increase participation of Philippine small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the digital economy, leading to greater innovation, productivity, and competition in the economy. This position will be based in Manila, Philippines. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.   The activity will support Philippine government programs and projects in the country’s transition to a digital economy. The activity will expand the participation of SMEs in the digital economy by improving SME capacity to adopt reliable, affordable technology solutions; expand the use of e-payments systems and FinTech innovations; improve the integration of e-commerce platforms with logistical supply chains; and increase consumer awareness and protections.  Principal Duties and Responsibilities:  Serve as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) point of contact for SPEEDSupport the design and co-creation of gendered activities and gender mainstreaming in all interventions. Investigate specific gender gaps and gender-specific barriers with respect to key challenges to the overall purpose of the Activity and adapt market-driven solutions that promote systemic changes in the market systemCollaborate with the MEL team to ensure that gender-sensitive indicators and milestones are included in the Activity MEL Plan and accurately measured and incorporated into private sector partners business flowsIn coordination with the MEL Specialist, train technical staff on how to collect and report on gender-sensitive data. In collaboration with the COP, DCOP, technical team, and local partners, identify, test, and scale gender integration approaches throughout the ActivityQualifications and Skills:  Degree in sociology, gender, international development, or relevant field requiredMinimum 5 years of experience in integrating gender and social inclusion concerns into program design and implementation and/or supporting to women entrepreneurs to ensure digital and financial inclusion on complex development projectsFamiliarity with USAID gender and inclusion guidelines highly preferredExperience on international donor-funded project a plusExcellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrityFluency in English. Please fill in the application form provided below.
