Category Merchandising Officer is responsible for ensuring product movements are according to plan to ensure higher chances of sales. This position with indirect report to the Category Merchandising Lead is in charge of placing accurate orders as directed by the Senior Category Merchandising Manager and ensure that orders arrive in the warehouse on time and are deployed to point of sales without delay. It is also their responsibility to monitor and report inventory movements and levels and arrange for restocking or transfers accordingly.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SOURCING AND PURCHASING
· Creates and issues request for quotation for products to be procured.
· evaluates quotation based on price, terms of payment, and availability.
· Initiates primary negotiation of price and ensure that purchasing agreement is beneficial to both the company and the partner.
· Prepares comparative analysis on pricing and quality of products before placing the order.
· Anticipate and perform initial negotiation on possible price changes by asking for protection booking.
· Sources out for alternative if a procured or planned product is not available.
· Conducts actual field work, if required, to source out alternative products or survey market price.
· Recommends the best source of supply by evaluating quotation based on the relative importance of criteria such as quality, price, services or by application of buying agreement
ORDER & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
· Negotiates forward booking with final approval of the Manager for products from three to six months considering the following aspects:
- Contribution to company’s profitability
- Volume requirement or quantity
- Zero shortages in stock to avoid hamper in the operation
- Just-in-time inventory position
- Achieve more leverage due to contract duration
· Places an order based on Category Merchandising Lead’s allocation.
· Coordinate lead time for delivery of products.
· Expedites urgent deliveries and rush orders, and when necessary, get the approval of Category Merchandising Lead and Senior Category Merchandising Manager for alternative method or material/products, if delivery is not available when required.
· Prepares and signs the purchase orders.
· Advises Logistics & Services of the existing market conditions and supplier-based activity that could affect pricing and delivery.
· Establish contracts for procurement.
· Validate report of product rejection thru actual observation of delivery.
· Furnish key stakeholders with estimated price of products for budget purposes.
· Respond tactfully with sources or potential sources of supply to overcome complaints, misunderstandings, and other concerns, and/or secure further pertinent information regarding purchasing materials.
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
· Maintains complete information of suppliers and the corresponding price of their products for control performance purpose.
· Ensures that vendors are performing in a manner consistent with company expectations, example, delivery time and schedule, quality, quantity and services.
· Reserves the right to reject if the vendor does not deliver on time, and if the item does not conform to the agreed.
· Prepares and issues Vendor’s Maintenance Form to Finance for the issuance of supplier’s code (ERP)
· Communicate preliminary warning on poor performance of vendors based on services, stock availability and dependability.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
· Preferably with experience in product lifecycle management with a background in program and/or project management.
