Air Accounting is always looking to add members to our fast growing team of dynamic, intelligent and caring people. We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will join our airCompliance team working on accounting and tax compliance and planning across a number of Australian small and medium growing businesses. The role also offers a future opportunity to mentor other Philippines based team members.

What does your day to day look like?

Preparation of financial statements for companies, trusts and partnerships Preparation of income tax returns for companies, trusts and partnerships Assist and commence with preparation of consolidated financial statements and tax returns;Reconcile ATO balance sheet items (i.e. GST, PAYGW, income tax);Maintain fixed asset register, including acquisition and disposal of fixed assets;Review other balance sheet items and detect discrepancies;Identify taxation issues such as Division 7A and FBT;Preparation of more complex individual tax returns (managed funds, ESS, capital gains tax, rental properties);Preparation and lodgement of basic annual payroll tax reconciliations (New South Wales).Preparation of monthly/quarterly business and instalment activity statements, with the ability to identify GST and payroll discrepancies;Prepare fuel tax credits calculations to be included as part of the business activity statement;Prepare and lodge basic monthly payroll tax (New South Wales).Preparation of year end tax planning files for companies, trusts and partnerships Provide mentoring and training to Accountants, with assistance from Head of Compliance.Review and oversee work prepared by Accountants to detect discrepancies and ensure deadlines are met. 

What you will need to succeed?

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Australian tax with an in-depth understanding of Australian taxation conceptsBachelor of Commerce/Business (Accounting Major)Excellent understanding of Xero and Xero Practice Manager Previous experience mentoring colleagues will be highly regarded Excellent communication skills both written and verbal High attention to detail and problem solving skillsHighly proactive with the ability to research and provide solutionsHigh analytical and problem solving skillsStrong accuracy and attention to detailExcellent organisation and time management skillsAbility to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders with strong business acumen
