If you are a confident and experienced legal professional who is always willing to learn. Are you able to analyst and product strategies and recommendations for compliance? If you have experience in commercial law in common law countries…Are you able to be hands-on and draft, review, and deliver commercial agreements and advice to management. If you are familiar with reviewing compliance to local statutory regulations in Australia and Singapore both legal and other compliance such as IS09000. You will be able to hold your own and act as a steward of the companies interests and to grow your career within our rapidly growing company.

The Opportunity:

AECO Energy is a decade-old company operating in deregulated electricity markets and is expanding across Asia and renewable energy solutions. We offer a range of services. The company is growing and is adding a senior legal officer to our team. Working under the guidance of the CFO and as part of that team, you will be the first member of the team to provide in-house legal and compliance services. This is a new position and the first legal position in our growing business of 95 staff. You will benefit from the support of a strong team of colleagues with diverse backgrounds innovating in the energy markets across Asia. You will be responsible for all legal matters and compliance for the company across Australian and Singaporean law, and you will be responsible to oversee all compliance, including ISO9000, working with our in-house audit team.

AECO Pacific launched its local AECO Energy Brand in Singapore in 2021 for local and Asian markets. You will be joining a diverse team of 75 professionals working from home across SE Asia and Australia driving electricity solutions to customers. We have transitioned to a 100% COVID work-from-home company with all the required solutions and technology to enable this transformation.

Innovation and Technology:

You will need to work with the other teams using Microsoft Teams and online processes. You will need to innovate both processes and approaches to meet market demands.

Responsibilities:

Commercial Agreements: Review, draft and complete all forms of commercial agreements under Australian and Singapore commercial Law.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure and Audit of compliance for regulations for business operation in Australian and Singapore Law. This includes labor and consumer law. You will be expected to be able to learn and implement knowledge found in these jurisdictions and ensure corporate compliance to national requirements.

Non-Regulatory Compliance. Oversee and plan and execute ISO9000 quality compliance. 

Collaborate with your team. Leverage your domain knowledge when working with cross-divisional teams to define and execute business strategies. Be disciplined, motivated, resourceful, and take initiative to resolve issues. Proper follow-up, paperwork, and internal process to adhere to company policy. 

about you:

7+ years of legal experience in a commercial contextExperience in international commercial agreementsExperience in Australian and Singaporean or other common law country desirable.Experience in regulatory compliance.Able to negotiate, represent the company, work as a member of a multi-disciplinary group of professionals.Poly Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Law

These are the minimum system requirements we are looking for a remote working staff that we want to hire: 

Must be Minimum windows 7, 8, and 10 / Mac 12.X or higher. Internet Speed must be above 20Mbps UP and Down. Anti-Virus and Firewall must be enabled. The system must have a minimum of 20 GB of disk space on the C drive. System RAM must be a minimum of 8 GB. Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster process Must have a backup internet connection  Best but not required to have a backup laptop or computer if the current computer fails.
