Job Description

This position serves as the primary compliance and privacy contact for the Philippines, with responsibilities including, but not limited to completing compliance investigations, evaluating organizational risk, assisting in mitigation strategies, completing internal audits, and building meaningful relationships to influence compliance standards amongst departments. 

1. Manage delivery of compliance and privacy education to employees to support them in understanding and complying with regulatory requirements. Track and report completion of mandatory education requirements and follow-up on non-compliant status.

2. Responsible for coordinating SHS compliance requirements and activities in the Philippines, including monitoring and overseeing use of compliance and privacy tools (e.g., ACT, RADAR, Portal, etc.) developing compliance awareness initiatives (e.g., compliance week, help tree) and leading applicable geo compliance status meetings with appropriate follow-up.

3. Lead investigations surrounding alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and organizational standards of conduct.

4. Serves as initial contact for receiving site notification of potential privacy related incidents; immediately notifies applicable SHS Compliance Office staff, conducts thorough investigations, identifying root causes, and follows-up on corrective action plans.

5. Participates in internal risk assessments and audits of performance against client requirements, identifying weakness and deficiencies to assist with process improvement and increase organizational compliance adherence. 

6. Assess trends in compliance reporting to assist with organization risk mitigation strategies. Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.

7. Assist with development and revision of policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.  

8. Maintain a working knowledge of U.S Federal and State regulations, industry standards or changes, and policies as they affect Sutherland and/or our clients.

9. Maintain collaborative working relationships with Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Information Security, GTI and corporate leadership to help drive awareness and employee engagement.

Qualifications

Our most successful candidates will have:

- Bachelor’s degree in any stream. Candidates with business, healthcare, auditing, information security, law or other background in education is an advantage 

- Working knowledge of Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services, other federal and state regulatory requirements is a plus

- Experience with educating and applying principles associated with HIPAA Privacy Rule is required

- Strong analytical skills; be able to interpret data, identify trends, and make suggestions for improvements

- Ability to be pro-active in developing trust and professional rapport with employees and team members; work as a team-player

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential; be able to communicate in a clear, constructive, and professional manner

- Well versed in Microsoft Office (proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) - Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
