Position Title: Data Engineer

Job Summary:

·      Gather, understand, analyze, and prioritize data requirements of the team, then execute ingestion of required data into the data platform

·      Analyze the team’s business, application, and technical data infrastructure requirement, then conceptualize and build infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.

·      Support the design, build, enhance and integrate the team’s data infrastructure, ensuring robustness, scalability, availability, efficiency, and adherence to Architectural Engineering Technology (AET) standards.

·      Assist in technical design/implementation documentation.

·      Preparing raw data for descriptive, predictive, prescriptive analytics.

·      Ensure and review data quality.

·      Troubleshoot infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture, project requirements, customer expectations, etc.

·      Participate in test planning and execution.

·      May work with project teams to prepare components for production.

·      Escalate, provide feedback and propose changes to infrastructure specifications.

·      Participate in handling infrastructure updates, upgrades and other maintenance tasks in both hardware and software and in both cloud and on-prem areas.

Role Exposure:

·      Contribute to the building of an end-to-end pioneer data science and advanced analytics team.

·      Exposure to intricacies and dependencies of data engineering projects in a highly regulated environment.

·      Learn from analytics professionals, data scientists, data visualization experts, and banking domain leaders who will consume, analyze, and act on data made available to them.

·      This role prepares the successful candidate for complex technical or managerial roles related to management of data and administration of users of data platforms (including analysts, data scientists, and business users).

·      With deeper understanding of data structures and business cases, this role can also open up analytics-related roles. 

Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics or a related field.

·      4-6 years of relevant IT experience

·      Experience with Powershell, API, REST endpoints.

·      Experience with SAS, Power BI, SQL and/or MS Azure required.

·      Banking industry exposure preferred, but not required.

·      Ability to code, test and create supporting documentation

·      Ability to configure, develop and extend enterprise data platforms and applications. This includes user and application administration.

·      Teaching ability to explain concepts to nontechnical colleagues

·      Solid grasp of Information System Security necessary to effectively design, engineer, and manage the overall security posture of an organization.

·      The following would be an advantage but are not required:

o  Experience with cloud platforms and understanding of cloud spend and spend management best practices

o  AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Certification

o  Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

o  Ability to organize Azure resources, enforce standards, and protect critical assets
