MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
● Responsible for finding funding opportunities and writing polished proposals to earn grant money. Working as part of the grant writing team
● Working as part of the Grant writing team, the purpose of the Grants Writer position is to help research and author funding proposals that contribute to meeting our 'financial sustainability' objective. This is achieved through two streams of funding: direct investment in our not-for-profit to help cover core operating costs; and funding for our partnerships and projects, both internal to our organisations and external organisations we support.
Key Accountabilities
● Funder research - Undertake targeted desk-based research of potential funders (individuals and organisations) to inform our strategy and direction (i.e. type of funder, scale of investment etc.) Engage wide-ranging and targeted research from internal and external resources to inform and support the identification and conversion of funder targets.
● Funder submissions and reports - Prepare, write, and produce successful funding proposals that frame and meet the needs of funders, applying a persuasive writing style. Understand and distill our offering and translate it to individual funding needs. Develop proposals that articulate and promote our position as a collaboration of Indigenous organisations. Liaise with our subject matter experts to distill our offering for funders. Interpret subject content and develop it into persuasive written form for funding proposals, drawing on existing submission and marketing materials, and creating copy where relevant
● Collaborate with the wider Grant writing team, including the Grant writing VA, in delivering to funder timelines for proposals and reports.
● Other responsibilities may be required.
Experience and Education:
● Five years of proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role
● Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area (master’s degree preferred)
● Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources

● Our customers/funders are Government and Philanthropic executives from multiple countries.
● There are five main teams (Grant writing, Digital Marketing/Growth Hacking, Programme Delivery, Market Validation, and Support)
● We are a small business (16 to 55 team members depending on the project stage) therefore, the role is hands-on.
