We are recruiting for a Site Reliability Engineers who will be part of our SRE function within the Platform Operations Team.  This is a new team of engineers who will work alongside English Technologies existing Platform Support and Engineering teams.

The role will be responsible for support and design aspects of the English Engineers ecosystem (Platforms, Applications, Services and Websites). Responsibility for creating and maintaining software and processes that ensure the reliability and availability of the English digital platforms/websites and their software delivery pipelines.

What will you do in this role?

The Site Reliability Engineer will join a new SRE function within the Platform Operations Team working alongside existing Platform Support and Engineering teams.

The role will be responsible for support and design aspects of the English Engineers ecosystem (Platforms, Applications, Services and Websites). Responsibility for creating and maintaining software and processes that ensure the reliability and availability of the English digital platforms/websites and their software delivery pipelines.

The Principal Accountabilities are:

Working closely with the Solutions Architect, development and QA teams using core SRE and DevOps principles to build and maintain pipelines that focus on rapid software delivery and site reliability automate as many processes as possible and creating tools to enable rapid provisioning of resources (including environments) by all teams.Use automation and monitoring tools to improve site reliability, supporting the development teams in resolving issues, and provide particular troubleshooting expertise in infrastructure, networking and tiered application design whilst acting as a point of expertise for cloud services, especially AWS PaaS.Working closely with the Architects and Tech leads to help shape future direction for infrastructural and engineering aspects of the English platforms, taking responsibility for communicating and implementing that longer-term strategy across relevant technology teams within the Manila office.Participate on an on-call rota to provide out of hours support when required.Keep a close involvement with ongoing developments within the DevOps / SRE community and continually look to bring improvements into our working practices. 

What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?

You would be an ideal candidate if you have 3+ years of experience with AWS Cloud Engineering, Architecture or Infrastructure and with a minimum of 3 years proven experience in a systems admin or dev-ops blended role.

Ideally you will have experience with a DevOps delivery model for infrastructure, applications and configuration, as well as implementing technologies such as: Infrastructure as Code – e.g. Terraform and CDK, Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment e.g. Github Actions & BitBucket Pipelines, and Containerization/Orchestration e.g. Any experience with Kubernetes & Docker would also be highly regarded.

In addition to the above you will ideally have: -

Expertise in central logging systems such as ELK/EFK (Elasticsearch, logstash/fluentD, Kibana), monitoring tools like New Relic, Data Dog, Grafana, alert Manager, Pagerduty, and site24x7 as well as experience in troubleshooting cloud environments – finding and fixing critical production issuesA deep knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure, especially using Amazon Web Services (Fargate, Route53, Cloudwatch, API gateway, Lamdba, AWS CodePipeline/CloudFormation, DynamoDB, Networking etc)A breadth of expertise across relevant technologies including: Elasticsearch, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java, Node.js, Git/GitHub & Confluent/KafkaExcellent troubleshooting, debugging, communication and documentation skillsExperience of working within an Agile product development environment.Working globally across different cultures
