To provide specialist landscape design advice to both internal and external customers, relating to the councils’ statutory and non statutory planning functions. This includes both advice on landscape character and visual impacts, hard and soft landscape design, public open space, play spaces and their implementation and management.Responsible for providing landscape advice on all development management matters, including pre-application enquiries, applications, discharge of conditions, appeals and enforcement matters.To evaluate design quality of landscape architectural features including play environments, plazas, streets, street furniture, cycleways and lighting to ensure they align with approved policies and guidance.Assist the planning officers in negotiating with applicants, agents, developers, Parish and Town Councils over planning applications and monitoring planning obligations.Undertaking site visits to formulate recommendations, liaising with the relevant planning officer.Ensuring planning decisions comply with statutory responsibilities related to the protection of landscapes and comply with Local Plan Landscape and Character policy requirements.Provision of landscape advice to planning policy teams, including assistance with policy development.. To monitor and review such policies and documents.Ensure consistency across the Landscape team in the quality of professional advice given (including in reports) at all times, and work with Landscape Consultants and other specialists such as Conservation, Trees, Ecology and Drainage to provide consistent professional advice.
