Job Purpose:
• Undertake a development role, providing assistance to deliver distinct element of cost management assignments, undertaking practical tasks in support orf more senior colleagues, developing their full technical ability in the filed of cost/commercial management and will be able to work independently from broad instructions and gaining appreciation of Arcadis service lines and businesses
• Learn how to apply theoretical skills from their education within an office and project environment
Key Accountabilities:

• Build analytical and cost and commercial skills as well as developing communication skills including technical writing

• Undertake document management including drawing registers.
• Check own work ahead of production checking
• Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved in accordance with Arcadis systems
• Successfully complete assigned technical tasks within allotted time frames and budgets
• Sign up to training plan for professional development and attend appropriate events
• Attend appropriate conferences and events
• Assist in cost analysis and benchmarking, to collate project cost data and compile database for determining cost of future projects.
• Contribute to a range of cost management assignments by assisting in practical tasks, and work with senior colleagues to ensure programmes of work are undertaken and project milestones are met such as preparation of cost estimate and cost plan quantification, ensuring that all quantities, rates, assumptions and exclusions are correct, preparation of Bill of Quantities, quantitative tender review and preparation of tender report, desk top evaluation of applications for payment, evaluation of contract variations to assess cost effects and identifying variances between planned and incurred costs andd notify more senior colleagues of any discrepancies to ensure nagement has access to up-to-date and accurate information to aid their decision-making
• Understand and comply with risk and compliance principles, taking standard corrective action or reporting unsafe or inappropriate situations in order to ensure the delivery of cost management assignments are not adversely impacted
• Collect data and help to prepare supporting documentation such as schedules, feasibility studies and cost reports, to ensure senior management have quality information to facilitate their decision-making
• Monitor cost and commercial management processes, share knowledge and provide feedback on existing procedures in order to identify opportunities for the improvement of processes and systems
• Apply practical methods and expertise to solve problems raised by colleagues in a timely and accurate manner, in order to effectively support the cost and commercial management function
• Provide advice on simple cost management queries to internal or external stakeholders, escalating more complex matters to senior colleagues when required, ensuring an efficient and high-quality provision of information
• Commit to receiving on the job technical training by performing tasks, which are under the direct supervision of more experienced staff within well defined limits
• Participate in Arcadis knowledge sharing activities • Work with a Mentor to develop technical excellence at the start of a structured training programme under GEC C&CM Training Academy and the GEC accredited APC Training Program provider
Qualifications:
• Have a BE / BSc Eng, Diploma in QS or equivalent in a relevant discipline • Typically 1 - 2 years of construction experience in consultancy or contracting
