The role of the Chairperson is recognized as a primary leadership position. As the academic officer, this position is generally responsible for the delivery of educational programs in accordance with the college and university's strategic directions.
In performing the duties, the Chairperson will exercise considerable discretion while complying with University policies and procedures and operating within the limitations imposed by the availability of resources.

The minimum qualifications include an earned master's degree or doctorate, evidence of research in the field, and a Certified Public Accountant. With a record of leadership experience within the profession or the university, evidence of successful teaching in higher education, and excellent communication and human relations skills. Preferred experience will include success in the administration of programs in higher education, including strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and collaboration with colleagues.
